How to get rid of the mold smell in the washing machine

washing machine

We know how to wash the washing machine from the mold, but what to do when everything seems to be okay, it is clean, but the smell is still there? Let’s see how to remove the unpleasant odor, which can also remain on the fresh washed clothes.

If you are going to erase the towels, add a glass of vinegar and wash them at high temperatures. It will not harm the towels and even will help to decontaminate them. Baking soda also copes well with the removal of odors, but for the bacteria, that cause the smell, it is not so disastrous.

Pour 2 cups of white vinegar into the washing machine and run the longest wash cycle with hot water without the addition of clothing and other detergents. Let the machine run for a few minutes to prepare a solution, and then temporarily stop the execution of the program, to give it time to act on the dirt inside the tank.

An hour later, turn the washing machine after a pause and wait for the end of the washing. Then, run a short wash cycle to flush the remnants of the solution. The vinegar will purify the washing machine from scale, will remove soap and dirt accumulation, will help to get rid of bacteria and unpleasant odors. You can replace the vinegar by two cups of chlorine bleach, but it is a more toxic means.

After draining the water, wipe the inside of the door and the rubber seals around it with a soft cloth moistened with a mixture of equal amounts of water and vinegar. Pay special attention to the seals, since they are often a trap for dirty water and various deposits. Then go over it with a damp cloth and wipe dry.
